About the Boychoir

The Treasure Boychoir is a non-profit, non-denominational cultural youth organization that provides boys a chance to grow through musical learning, self-discipline, performance demeanor and working together for the common joy of singing. The choir, which celebrates the brief but magical time of a boy's life when his voice is clear and pure, gives him an opportunity to sing in an encouraging environment with social teamwork and opportunities for personal growth.

Membership in the Boychoir requires no special skills. All boys must have an interest in music, an enjoyment of singing, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to regular attendance.

Beginning our fifth year, the choir brings together boys ranging in age from 7-13 years old. High school singers desiring more challenging music and mentoring opportunities are also considered

The boychoir has sung for Christmas at Windsor, The Moorings Club, the national anthem for the Dodgers and throughout the community at nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Additionally the boys won first place for their floats at the Sebastian Fourth of July Parade and the Vero Christmas Parade. Winter 2006-07 included singing in the chorus for Amahl and the Night Visitors.

For this year, community performances will continue as part of our commitment to service for the boys. Through its performance program and development of its members, the boychoir will entertain, educate and enrich the Vero Beach community.

Rehearsals

Weekly rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays beginning in September. A final rehearsal date will be determined in consultation with all parents. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled a few weeks prior to each concert.

Choir Fees

Membership fees are $25 per month from September to May and are payable in one of three ways:

Monthly $25 due by the 10th of each month beginning 9/9

Quarterly $70 due 9/9, 12/9, 3/10 (save $10)

Annually $200 due 9/9 (save $25)

Fees include the cost of all music and materials. Fees will be adjusted for singers joining later in the season.

Attire

The Dress concert uniform consists of a white long-sleeved shirt and black dress pants. Black bowties are purchased for $10. Casual performance attire is a green boychoir shirt costing $14 and khaki shorts.

Recreational trips may be scheduled from time to time. When such events occur, a small fee may be charged.

No boy will be refused membership due to finances. Please see the director for assistance.
